Not Dead

Not dead, just in the hands of an uninspired developer. This is just a post to let anyone who may be concerned that Metroid Father Hunt is not dead. I believe I've said it before, but to anyone unfamiliar: I rely on bursts of creativity and inspiration to work on this, and, well, anything really. Since that last post, I'm not gonna lie, very minimal work has been done. Aside from lack of inspiration, let's just say I'd gotten into a very ugly situation during March that put a lot of stress and work on my back. This year hasn't started so well. Sorry to report empty handed, but atleast this project isn't dead.

UPDATE 10/21/14
Ronny is slow.
Very slow.
And that probably won't change until college shit lets up.
But Ronny loves all of you.
Very much.
Have a nice night.

  5. Dear Ronny,

Could you be so kind and upload latest (2013) demo? Unfortunately I didn't find it anywhere in the abyss of the Internet.

    Best regards

    1. Sorry about that. I've fixed the link under the 'media' thing on the left.

  6. For reasons I don't understand, Samus doesn't face left when I press left, she just sort of slides backwards, which makes it impossible to get far in the demo. I initially thought maybe this was some weird design decision, but at this point I'm assuming it's a bizarre bug. Any idea what it might be about?

    1. That's completely my fault. If you remapped your directional controls, then here's what's up: The code that checks if Samus should walk left specifically checks for you to press the left arrow key. The check should actually be done on the left key variable, but I probably forgot to change it from when the controls were not customizable. Sadly, Game Maker does not allow patches so if you want to have custom directional controls, you'll need to wait till I have access to the original source code of the demo. (It's on a computer I don't have with me at the moment.) You need to map your directions to the arrow keys if you want to play right now.

    2. I tried to make a second comment, not sure if it just hasn't been approved or if it didn't go through at all, but basically I have now played the demo most of the way through (It keeps crashing either during the fight with what I presume is Father Brain or crashing after the escape message appears) and am pretty impressed at it! (And amused. "green", "red"... I can't wait for a Maridia-esque area called "blue") Kind of weirded out at Metroids sort of randomly appearing as a not-very-threatening enemy early on in exactly one room, but overall very impressed.

  7. This game is bad ass. I love the style. It feel's so fresh too. Boy i wanted to keep playing it but that is the end of the demo. You must be some kind of bad ass to have created this. Holy crap father hunt is hella cool. I love what you have done here. I wish i could help out a bit, maybe some level designs or something. timothyreveles@gmail.com. Have a happy holiday. Just cause people don't comment does not mean your work is being taken for granted. I love what you have done here bro. Peace - Tim

  9. I'm commenting, hoping for a sign that there is still some sort of progress going on with this game, regardless of how small it is.
This game has a whole lot of potential and the demo alone was really fucking awesome.
